Hi, DSOC

The MDP Nominating Convention is over. We will have a lot of good candidates on the ballot—not all of whom I voted for. I suspect the same is true for you. I know there are serious differences among Democrats, and I certainly don’t have a quick fix for our differences. I do know this: Trump and his stooges will never fix anything. We stand for democracy, human rights, peace and prosperity. They don’t.

We can’t cover up our differences, and we shouldn’t. We can’t brush aside the disruptions and lack of respect on display at the convention. But our mission has to be defeating Trump and his stooges, and we cannot let strife between Democrats interfere with completing the mission.

The best idea I have is to double down on democracy, human rights, peace and prosperity. We can win, and we should. Let’s do it.

May’s meeting will feature State Senate candidate Amanda Treppa and US House candidate John Torres, as well as absentee ballot postcard writing. We’ll meet at the Huntington Woods Library again at 6:30 pm. Bring some postcard stamps if you can.
