Hello, Fellow Dems of South Oakland County:

The bad news:

We will be returning to the Sheetmetal Workers Hall in Southfield for the March meeting at 6:30 p.m. It seems that the HW Rec Center is very popular with HW residents and, of course, they get first dibs on the space.

If you have an idea for a space in our territory that can accommodate up to 75 or so people, has good WIFI and can be rented for less than $100—a church, school, business, etc.—please let me know. I am talking to both Berkley Schools and Oak Park Schools, but I am not very optimistic for either.

The good news:

The March meeting should a good one—we have Abdul el-Sayed (Senate race), Chris Swanson (Governor’s race), Jeremy Moss (11th Congressional District race) and Victoria King (Oakland County Circuit Court race) confirmed as speakers, and we should hear from a number of other judicial and university board candidates.

We may also finish the permanent absentee postcard effort as well if we have time. The point of the postcards is that people on the permanent absentee voter list vote at a very high rate, and it’s likely the best get out the vote (GOTV) effort we can undertake.

More good news: Sundown on March 19 will be near 8 p.m. Drive to the 6:30 meeting in daylight! See you then.
