Hello, DSOC!

Four weeks to Election Day! Here we go!

There’s a lot going on this month.

• The October club meeting will be Thursday, October 15 at the Huntington Woods Library from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. We’ll have some local candidates and—maybe—Lt. Governor candidate Winnie Brinks. She is a dynamic speaker and a great candidate. And we’re planning an audience-participation event—details on that coming.

• The Phil Hart Dinner: The Oakland County Democratic Party’s main event of the year will be Saturday, October 17 at the Troy Marriott. Jocelyn Benson, Eli Savit, Noah Hood, and Garlin Gilchrist will be there, and OCDP will honor Senator Gary Peters for his years of service to Michigan. There are two ways to get a ticket:

  • Regular tickets: $175 - go to OCDP.org for those tickets

  • DSOC Club Table tickets: Sit with fellow DSOC members for a discounted price of $135 each. There is a special link to sign up for these tickets. Contact me at demsofsoc@gmail.com and I’ll send the link. Club table tix are limited.

• We are still distributing DSOC slate cards and can use more help. Send a note to demsofsoc@gmail.com to volunteer.

• We are sponsoring a Red Cross blood drive on November 11 at the OP Community Center. Go to redcross.org and search for a blood drive in Oak Park to sign up.

• Finally, Sarah Mountain has resigned from the Berkley School Board and suspended her campaign. If you’re in the Berkley district, you should probably vote for the other two candidates. Both should be good.

Election Day is only 4 weeks out!

DSOC merch. PLEASE NOTE THAT OUR STORE IS CURRENTLY OFFLINE WHILE WE ARE LOOKING FOR A NEW VENDOR. STAY TUNED.Hoodies, sweatshirts, T-shirts, totes and hats will be available in our store when we are back online. Since we do not require payment of dues to join our club, the sale of our merchandise is one of our primary fundraising tools. Wearing DSOC merch not only shows you are a proud Democrat; it also promotes our club. These items also make great gifts!

Please note, it happens occasionally that someone sends a “spoofing” email—one that appears to have come from me, but I didn't write. If it looks suspicious, it probably is. I will NEVER ask you to send me money or your credit card. Be vigilant!
