GOOD TROUBLE LIVES ON NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION
Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people.
On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, we’re taking action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble.
The power lies with the people, and we’re rising to prove it. Join us for a national day of nonviolent action as we rally, march, host teach-ins, press conferences, and vigils to demand that Congress fight back and protect our freedom to vote.
new book club formed
Marvin Zalman, one of our club members, has initiated a DSOC book club to read books that cover current critical political issues. The group will provide input to the club and the larger Democratic party community to advance its goals.
If you are interested in being a part of this book club, please send an email to Marvin at aa1887@wayne.edu.
The book club held its first meeting on May 21 to discuss Matthew Desmond’s Poverty, By America. For a summary of the discussion, click here.
At the June 25 meeting, the book club discussed Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson’s Abundance. For a summary of the discussion, click here.
HELP SAVE OUR NATIONAL PARKS
Please write to Congress to help save our national parks. They are hoping to get the 1,000 people who were laid off reinstated. The parks already run underfunded, understaffed and on shoestrings by people who are dedicated to a mission of conservation. With the cuts that have already been made, it is clear that many existing facilities won’t be able to open for their season. Click on the button below for an easy way to write.
TAKE PART IN NATIONAL BOYCOTTS
These resources will help you find companies that support Democratic values and candidates, those that support opposing values, and those that do not make political contributions: DEI Watch, Goods Unite Us (app), Open Secrets (website), Liberal Owned Business Community (Facebook group) and Voting With Your Dollars: Grocery Stores. You can also visit The People’s Union USA for a list of national boycotts.
Sign up to be notified of boycotts.
